Time Warp online

Just wrapped up a new online campaign for Time Warp. We partnered with some big online sites for this one (yahoo, msn, and hulu) If you go to yahoo sports, yahoo tv you can see the working unit. The campaign features a moving carousel of 3 scrubbable videos and a trailer. Technically speaking it was quite a coop to get all of this functionality within the kb crunching world of online.

One Way Out - Esquire Cover Flap

Esquire came to us a while back with an opportunity to be the first to use their new ‘flap’ cover. The flap worked so seemlessly within our One Way Out online campaign (keep your eye on espn.com) that we jumped at the chance. Take a look at what the NY Times has to say about the article.

Shot Escapologist Jonathan Goodwin in several scenarios involving ropes, chains, duct tape and cramped boxes all to create a really fun campain involving Jonathan and his crazy imagination. Rube Goldberg…meet Jonathan Goodwin. More images from this campaign as we roll them out.

Jonathan likes to escape from boxes, web banners are essentially boxes. Eureka…let’s put Jonathan in a box and animate it all while staying true to our fun illustrated style. I wrapped Jonathan in an extension cord, added some fake sparks, and some fake water…and of course some fake Wil E. Coyote style electrocution. It was all good fun. For the synced units we animated the contraption and had the top banner fill the bottom banner with water. Luke Watkins really worked hard at executing this idea for us. These are really worth checking out. So I urge you to click on the image.

I worked hand in hand with Glow Interactive every step of the way turning the incredible key art into an even more compelling online campaign. The rich media units on this campaign turned out great. We filled it with a ton of great content and I pushed and pushed and pushed to bring the 3D animation of the TIV to life, and I’m certainly glad I did. One of the more complete rich media experiences we’ve ever pulled off at Discovery.

Why run from a tornado when you can drive your homemade tank right into it. Flew to Oklahoma for a one-day shoot in the blazing sun. While shooting, it became clear that the TIV (tornado intercept vehicle) was a rockstar. Toughest part of this photoshoot was trying to get people to stop taking their own photos with the vehicle while we shot. Most interesting part of the shoot: discovering what the locals call an Amber Bock float. Yes, 1 part beer/1 part ice cream. It was pretty delicious actually, who would have thought.

Once again, I called upon my ace-up-my-sleeve photomagician Marc at Indigo Studios to bring this tornado scene to life.

When We Left Earth (online 1)

Worked with the guys from Struck to create a interactive tour of the actual space shuttle. (I promise you I had nothing to do with the weird space sky…a battle I lost.)

When We Left Earth (online 2)

The guys over at Struck were able to take this idea I had for a rocket liftoff and make it a reality.

Shark Week

From sketch to final visual. Created this Graphis Gold Award winning visual with Marc over at Indigo Studios. I did a lot of research on shark imagery and found that no one had ever captured a top down view. I can’t begin to tell you how real that animatronic shark looked. Oh..wait, sure I can. When you’re done looking at my work, take a peek at the NONSENSE section. I’ll be sure to post a pic there.
